Copyright & DMCA
Patchfinder hosts user-uploaded images. We respond to valid copyright notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).
Reporting infringement
If you believe content on Patchfinder infringes a copyright you own or represent, you can submit a takedown notice. A valid notice must include all of the following (§ 512(c)(3)):
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed.
- The URL(s) of the allegedly infringing material on Patchfinder, with enough detail for us to locate it.
- Your name, address, and a contact email.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Submitting a notice that misrepresents infringement may expose you to liability under § 512(f). We act only on notices that contain all of the required elements.
Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notice. If we receive a valid counter-notice, we forward it to the original claimant and may restore the material in 10–14 business days unless they notify us that they have filed suit.
Repeat infringers
We maintain and enforce a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
Designated agent
Notices may also be sent directly to our designated agent, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office:
